My debut (singer-songwriter) album was Afterglow in 1992. IMHO, I’ve grown a lot as a writer, performer, and producer over the ensuing decades, but this album will always feel special for how my first time in the studio — accompanied by an eclectic abundance of talented musicians — yielded so much growth and serendipitous joy, along with my first radio airplay, press coverage, and song award. And how it set precedents for an album to include poignant songs as well as playful songs, and using varied textures and guitars. The album had a limited cassette-only run, but finally (as of July 2026) is available in digital form at https://LarryLesser1.bandcamp.com/album/afterglow
While my subsequent albums to date have been in the Jewish folk-rock genre, a number of my unrecorded singer-songwriter songs have had visibility (e.g., my gun violence song “What We Carry Now“) as have many of my nationally-known award-winning STEM songs.
